Advanced, Personalized Surgical Services
Patients with a wide range of diseases or injuries can benefit from the specialized treatment offered by our TexomaCare general surgeons. General surgeons perform a wide range of surgical procedures primarily on the digestive tract and abdomen. They provide extensive knowledge in various surgical techniques at our surgery center.
At TexomaCare our surgeons utilize the operating rooms at Texoma Medical Center. It is equipped with 12 technologically advanced operating rooms. Our surgeons use techniques that help lower infection rates and encourage faster healing.
Surgical procedures are often under general anesthesia. However, after your surgery, you’ll recover in a 17-bed post-anesthesia care unit staffed by highly trained professionals.
Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery
Our goal is to provide quality care and provide the best treatment for you. We offer minimally invasive surgeries and procedures for a faster recovery and shorter hospital stay. Some minimally invasive surgical techniques include laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic surgeries.
Laparoscopic surgery is a surgical technique that uses short, narrow tubes that are inserted into the abdomen through one centimeter incisions. Long narrow instruments are inserted through the tubes so the surgeon can manipulate, cut and sew tissue. A camera is also inserted through another tube to give the surgeon visibility inside. Common procedures that can be performed using this technique include gallbladder removal, esophageal surgery, colon surgery and surgeries on the stomach and spleen.
Endoscopic procedures are used for investigation, diagnosis or treatment. It is a method that uses a long flexible tube with a camera and light at the end. It is often inserted through a small incision or a body cavity such as the mouth, urethra or anus. When it is inserted through a body cavity, it can be a scarless surgery.
Most often, an endoscopic device is inserted to give a surgeon visibility during a surgical procedure through the camera. However, small instruments can also be inserted through the endoscope and used to biopsy, remove tumors, stop bleeding and remove foreign bodies.
Robot assisted surgery is used to aid in general surgeries to improve precision, flexibility and control. It allows for a less invasive approach when the procedure can be performed through small incisions. However, robotic surgery can also be used in some traditional open surgical procedures.
The robotic surgical system uses a camera and mechanical arms with attached surgical instruments. Surgeons control the arms through a computer console. They use the camera for a high-definition, magnified and 3D view of the surgical site.
*Individual results may vary. There are risks associated with any surgical procedure. Talk with your doctor about these risks to find out if robotic surgery or minimally invasive surgery is right for you.
